CAFAMH Friends & Family Anniversary Dinner
November 7, 2019
Interested in sponsoring this event & supporting our mental health programs?
All proceeds from this dinner will directly fund mental health programs for Asian Americans in New York City. Our goal is to raise enough funds to begin supporting a small number of paid staff (currently, CAFAMH is entirely volunteer-run) who can ensure the success and sustainability of these important community programs.
Below are key programs you will be supporting with your attendance
Asian American College Student Program
CAFAMH is developing a new student-focused program that combines mentorship, skills-based learning, & psychoeducation for Asian American students.
Our aim is to:
1. Destigmatize mental health treatment among Asian American young adults
2. Foster a community of students with high emotional intelligence & strong critical-thinking skills
3. Educate students on how to practice self-care and healthy interdependence
Examples of potential workshops include Mental Health First Aid, How to Speak to Parents about Mental Health, Personal Storytelling, Networking & Finding Internships, etc.
In Partnership with NYU Department of Population Health
Chinese-American Family Caregiver Support
CAFAMH is continuing our long-held mission to serve Chinese-American families struggling with mental illness. Our work reaches some of the most vulnerable populations, including those with low income, low health literacy, and limited English proficiency.
Examples of our work include:
1. Monthly caregiver support group meetings held in Mandarin and Cantonese
2. Development & assessment of evidence-based interventions for family caregivers
3. Advocacy to increase culturally-competent and linguistically-appropriate mental health services
